4800m. Longshi Bhutan. M Thorne.	Shuri Tsho, Tibet. High up (5,000m. +) this species flowers entirely from basal scapes. Lower, stems can stick together-agglutinosed (seen here with 1 stem). Even lower (c.4,000m.) true racemes appear and this is technically a different species - M. racemosa (q.v) However this resembles a scapose M.rudis which has been described in Yunnan!
